Water Restriction Lubbock, TX
Here in the Lubbock area, we don’t have any water to spare, so we must be responsible with every drop we use. To help our community use water wisely, we must all adhere to the water restriction guidelines. Many homeowners aren’t clear on those guidelines, so we created this breakdown to help clarify, what days you can water your lawn, what times of the day you can water your lawn, and how much water you can use. Follow these rules for water restrictions in Lubbock:
Which Days Can You Water?
Not everyone can water their lawn at the same time. Each resident can water on two assigned days per week. The water restrictions in Lubbock are based on your house address. If your address ends in 0, 3, 4, or 9, you water on Monday and Thursday. If your address ends in 1, 5, or 6, you water on Tuesday and Friday. If your address ends in 2, 7, or 8, you water on Wednesday and Saturday.
What Time of Day Can You Water?
Water Restrictions are in effect from April 1st through September 30th. During this time, watering is allowed only on your scheduled watering days, and only from 6:00 p.m. till 10:00 am. No watering is allowed between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. If you’re wondering how these seemingly strange hours came about, the purpose is to make sure water is not lost to evaporation during the heat of the day. Make sure to water less than 1.5 inches of water per week and (obviously) don’t water when it is raining. When you water, you must not have significant runoff.
Watering Restrictions Are Actually Good for Your Lubbock Lawn
Although they’re called restrictions, which makes them sound like a bad thing, these irrigation rules are actually helpful to your lawn. Deeper watering less often promotes deeper root growth than watering lightly every day or two. At Ashton Walden, we are constantly testing new products to help your watering efforts go further. We give you tools such as catch cups and make suggestions on watering and mowing heights.
